Privacy Policy
Sarrah Cafe Trinbago LLC, doing business as Sarrah’s Cafe Trinbago
Effective date: September 12, 2026
Last updated: September 23, 2026
This policy explains what we collect about you, where it comes from, what we do with it, who else sees it, and how to make us stop. The current version is always at https://sarrahscafetrinbago.com/privacy/, and you need no login to read it. Our text messaging program is called Sarrah’s VIP List; its rules are in our SMS Terms at https://sarrahscafetrinbago.com/terms/#sms-program-terms.
Two things before you read on. Our cash register builds a profile of how you buy — automatically, out of what you order, with nothing typed in by you and nothing shown to you. And one request stops all of it: texts, automated calls, marketing email, the register feed, and any advertising audience you are in.
Telling us to stop
Reply STOP to any text from us. END, QUIT, CANCEL, REVOKE, OPT OUT and UNSUBSCRIBE work too. So does telling us in ordinary words — by text, by phone on (862) 444-0732, by email to info@sarrahscafetrinbago.com, or by saying it to anyone working here. No particular word or channel is required, and it costs you nothing.
We act as soon as our system processes it, normally immediately, and in every case within ten business days. We send one text confirming you are off the list. It carries no offer and no attempt to talk you round, and nothing follows it.
One request stops everything:
- Our automated texts stop, and so do any automated or recorded phone calls.
- Marketing emails stop. Every marketing email also carries its own unsubscribe link — free, no login, nothing needed beyond your email address, honored within ten business days.
- The feed from our cash register into your marketing record stops. We stop building a picture of you out of your orders. If your name or contact details change at the till we still correct them, so that a later request from you reaches the right record — but nothing new is recorded about what or how you buy.
- You drop out of any advertising audience we have already uploaded, when we next rebuild it from our current list.
What does not stop: your orders are still rung up as ordinary sales records, which we need to balance the books and handle refunds. And you are still a guest — you can still order, you still get every offer open to everybody, and a person will still answer you.
Texts come from one dedicated number for this program, which is for US mobile numbers. Our SMS Terms at https://sarrahscafetrinbago.com/terms/#sms-program-terms have the full rules. If messages to your number kept failing we stop sending to it; if you stopped hearing from us and never asked to, tell us and we will start again.
If you want your record deleted as well, see Section 8.
1. What you give us
On the chat widget on our website, our guest sign-up form, or in a message to us:
- Your name, so we know whose record is whose.
- Your mobile number, to text you if you asked, to reply, and to call you back if you ask.
- Your email address, to email you if you asked, and to answer an inquiry.
- Your date of birth — day, month and year. Required on the sign-up form, to send you a birthday offer and to check you are at least 18, our minimum age for the messaging program.
- Your postal address, if you give it. We keep it on your record; we do not send you mail through this program.
- Your catering details — event date, guest count, what you need — so we can answer and quote.
- Whatever you write to us, kept on your record so whoever picks it up next can see the conversation.
Please do not send us card numbers, bank details, government ID numbers or health information by text or chat — those are not private channels, and what you send lands on your record.
You do not have to sign up for any of this, and you never have to agree to marketing in order to buy from us.
2. What our register records about you, automatically
This is the part most guests do not expect, so here it is in full. You can have a record with us even if you have never filled in one of our forms.
If you order from us and the order can be matched to you, our cash register creates or updates a record for you on its own, and copies it into the same system that sends our marketing. Nobody types it in. You are not shown it. It is built out of what you buy, and matched to you by the phone number on your record. We do not receive or store your full card number, and no card details go into our marketing system.
Everything that profile holds:
- the reference number our register uses for you;
- how much you have spent with us in total;
- how many times you have ordered, and your typical spend per order;
- the date of your first order and the date of your last one;
- your points balance;
- the single item you order most often, and the part of the menu you order from most;
- the ordering method you use most often;
- the day of the week you usually order, and the part of the day you usually order in;
- whether your orders have included catering, gift cards or kids’ menu items.
To be direct about it: your spending, how often you come in, and what you like to eat are all recorded, and all of it is used to decide what we send you. It never changes the menu price you are charged, whether we will serve you, or the standard of service you get.
What your orders can suggest about you. What you order again and again can hint at things you may consider private — that you avoid certain foods, for instance. We record these as facts about an order and nothing more. We do not use them to work out your health, your religion or your beliefs, we never label you with any of it, and they are never uploaded to an advertising platform.
When you tell us to stop messaging you, the feed from the register switches off. The register still records your purchases, because a sale is an ordinary business record we need for the books and for refunds. That is a different thing from a marketing profile.
3. How we use your information
Our messages are sent by an automated system. A computer sends them on a schedule or because of something you did, and agreeing to our messages means agreeing to be messaged that way.
We use your information to send the offers and news you signed up for; to send a birthday offer, and ask for your birthday if we do not have it; to ask you for a review after a visit; to text you back when we miss your call; to confirm your opt-in and remind you once to finish signing up for rewards; to answer a catering inquiry; to reply to you by text, email, chat or phone; to take your order, your payment and your delivery; to show you our own ads (Section 5); and to run the restaurant and keep proper records, including proof of your consent. And to decide which of those messages you get, using the profile in Section 2.
4. When we are allowed to message you
Marketing texts. Only if you gave us your mobile number and ticked a box that starts unchecked — on the chat widget on our website or our guest sign-up form. Boxes are never ticked for you, and you can always submit without them. On the chat widget, offers and replies are two separate boxes: you can agree to hear back about something you asked us without agreeing to offers. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time. Full rules are in our SMS Terms at https://sarrahscafetrinbago.com/terms/#sms-program-terms.
Marketing emails. Only if you agreed to them, which is a separate choice from texts. Every one carries an unsubscribe link.
Replies. If you message us, call us or send an inquiry, we answer.
We record the exact sentence you agreed to and the date and time you agreed. Ask us and we will give you a copy.
Two things stay separate. A record our register created does not put you on our text list — we do not send marketing texts to a number we hold only because you paid with us. And joining rewards does not sign you up for texts, and agreeing to texts does not join you to rewards. That is true however you joined rewards, including by tapping the join screen at our register. They are different choices and we record them separately.
5. Advertising, and what we never do
We advertise our own restaurant on social media and search. These are our ads, for our own food, in our own name. To reach guests who already know us, we may give an advertising platform a list of email addresses from our marketing list, scrambled — “hashed” — so it can be matched without being read. Advertising and analytics tools on our website tell the platform which pages were visited, so we can see whether an ad worked.
Two things are never part of that: your mobile number, and the buying profile in Section 2. Neither is ever uploaded, to any platform, for any reason. We may use the profile inside our own system to decide who belongs in an audience — our best-guest group, for example — but the fields themselves stay with us.
We do not sell your information for money. We do not give it to another business so that business can advertise its own products to you. We do not swap, pool, rent or trade guest lists.
And specifically, for text messaging:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Your number and your consent to be texted are never sold, never shared with a lead generator or a data broker, and never passed to anyone for their own marketing — including if our business is ever sold. Your number goes only to companies that need it to carry a message, complete an order or run the business — the phone carriers, the platform that sends our messages, our cash register, our payment processor, and the ordering and delivery companies and couriers who need it to get your order to you. Each of them gets it to do that job for us.
To be left out of our advertising, ask us — see Section 8. Telling us to stop our messages does this as well.
6. Who else sees your information
- Our own staff, to serve you and answer you.
- The company that runs our marketing and messaging, which stores your record and sends our texts and emails, and our email delivery provider.
- Phone and text carriers, which physically deliver a text or connect a call.
- Our point-of-sale provider — our cash register, and where your buying profile comes from.
- Our payment processor, which receives your card details. We do not.
- Online ordering, reservation and delivery providers, and couriers, which get what they need to get your order to you.
- Social media and advertising platforms, which get a scrambled email address and website-visit information.
- Our website host and analytics provider, our accountant and lawyer, and authorities or courts where the law requires it.
- A buyer of our business, if we are ever sold: your contact details and order history transfer as a business record, but not your mobile number, your texting permission or the offer profile, which we clear first. A new owner would have to ask your permission again before texting you.
Most work only for us, under a contract that says they may not market to you or sell what they hold — including the company that runs our marketing and messaging and our point-of-sale provider. The carriers, the couriers and the advertising platforms also run their own businesses under their own privacy policies, which we cannot switch off on your behalf.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your contact details and preferences while you are subscribed and for three years after your last order or reply, and the buying profile for two years after your last order. Our cash register keeps its own record of your purchases for seven years, for tax and refunds — deleting your marketing record does not delete that one, so if you want both gone, ask for both. We keep the record of your consent for at least five years, so we can show what you agreed to and when.
Our do-not-contact list is kept indefinitely. When you tell us to stop, we keep your number and email address on that list permanently — that is the only way to be sure a stopped number is never messaged again. Numbers also land there when messages to them keep failing, and we record which is which. That list is only ever used to keep you off our lists.
8. Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct anything wrong, delete your record, stop building or using your buying profile, stop sorting you into groups, stop using your information for advertising, or stop the messages.
How to ask. Email info@sarrahscafetrinbago.com, call (862) 444-0732, or tell anyone on our team. It is free. We will do it and confirm when it is done. Before we show you the full buying profile we check who you are more carefully, because we will not hand your spending history to somebody who happens to know your phone number.
If you ask us to delete everything, two things stay: the note that you asked us to stop, and the sales records tax rules make us keep. And deleting is not the same as being left alone — if you order again, the register starts a new record. To stop for good, ask for both: delete my record, and put me on your do-not-contact list.
9. Our rewards program
Joining is your choice — either by tapping the join screen on the customer-facing display at the register, or through our sign-up form. Those are two ways into one program: our VIP list and our rewards scheme are the same thing. Joining it is not the same as agreeing to our marketing texts, which is a separate choice made on our forms. Nobody is enrolled automatically, and a record our register created from a purchase does not put you in it.
You earn 1 point for every $1 you spend, and 100 points can be redeemed for $5 off. Points do not expire. They are not cash, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred.
To leave, email or call us. One thing worth knowing: a points balance is calculated from your purchase record, so if you delete or freeze that record the balance goes with it. We will tell you before that happens.
We may change or end the scheme and will post any change here. We will not take away points you have already earned without telling you.
10. Children
Our messaging program is for adults, and you must be at least 18 to join it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through our forms. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe we hold a record about your child, email info@sarrahscafetrinbago.com and we will delete it and put the number on our do-not-contact list, so the register does not start another.
11. Keeping your information safe
We limit who can see your buying history, and our providers are contractually required to protect what they hold for us. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a problem affecting your information we will act on it and tell you where the law requires.
